John Odey is a dual-qualified attorney licensed to practice law in Nigeria, New York, and New Jersey. He brings international legal training, exceptional advocacy skills, and a client-focused approach to every case he handles.
He earned his LL.B. degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, one of the leading universities in Nigeria and West Africa. During law school, John was deeply involved in moot court, mock trials, and advocacy competitions, representing his university nationwide and earning recognition for excellence in oral advocacy, including multiple best-orator awards.
His advocacy experience expanded internationally when he competed in the prestigious Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition. His team won the regional rounds in South Africa and advanced to the final rounds in Israel, sharpening his analytical reasoning, courtroom presence, and persuasive communication skills.
After being called to the Nigerian Bar, John practiced for nearly five years at a fast-paced full-service law firm in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub. There, he handled a broad range of civil and regulatory matters, gaining extensive experience in litigation, client counseling, and legal drafting.
Seeking to broaden his legal perspective, John moved to the United States to pursue his LL.M. at Pennsylvania State University – Dickinson Law. After graduating, he passed the New York Bar Examination and is now licensed in both New York and New Jersey.
John has worked with high-volume personal injury firms in New York, refining his skills in case evaluation, liability analysis, negotiation strategy, and settlement advocacy. He has helped secure settlements totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars for injured clients. Known for his preparation and persistence, he negotiates assertively with insurance carriers while remaining focused on achieving fair, meaningful results.
